Why do people buy life like doll later on in their adult hood?

Are they for people who don't have children and want one that looks just like one? I see them in all of the magazines, and I think it is pointless. If it is just to collect okay, but what would be the point? Just to have the doll who looks like a baby? I have just seen them ever since I was young and thought it was pointless, in the magazine it has a babydoll that looks like a baby, has lifelike breathing, has real baby hair, and has a woman holding the babydoll like a real one.

I think that they are pointless. If you are collecting that is one thing but just have them I think that they are pointless. I also think that they have a negative affect on younger girls they may get the impression that that is how motherhood really is that it is easy and I think that would have a negative effect on younger girls.

I think you're right, they are mostly used for collection purposes. Or gifts for a friend/child/grandchild? Perhaps an obsession carried through from his/her childhood. Who knows? They are some very different people in the world today.

Because people love babies, and they are so sweet and innocent at that age, and you can buy cute little outfits for them. My sister never had kids and she has a doll the size of a 3 month old that she buys seasonal outfits and costumes for.

They're for people that want a baby, but don't want to deal with it much. Maybe also for older people who's kids are already married or something...

I have always collected porcelain dolls. I have done this since I was very young. My grandmother and my mother did the same. My grandma is fond of Victorian styled dolls while my mother likes the bride/formal dolls. I have always liked the newborn dolls. I have children and I don't collect them for any other reason than the fact that I like them. Some people collect stamps, some people collect comic books, I collect dolls.

I collect dolls and I don't think they are pointless, they make me happy and that's the point! I have children and I started collecting when I was very young. I don't think there needs to be a reason to collect something, other than just wanting too. Some people were born to collect and others weren't.
