I am in the check out line and see magazines with things like: "See so and so's new look!" So I look and see a woman with dyed hair, and the first thing to come to mind is that they dipped their head in a vat of heavy metal salts (the "brunettes" especially).

Curious, I check out the composition and find: "Metal oxides, such as titanium dioxide and iron oxide, are often used as pigments as well," (and it looks it). I just don't get it. Do these women really think they are "stylin" when they look like poster children for "Chemical Quarterly?"

hi, im a chick and im naturally blondish brown. but i dyed my hair black. i like it. some women dye there hair to "fit in" or to keep up with the "fad". i dyed mine cause i hated my hair color, it was ugly to me.

Women want to change their looks. Hair color is easy to change and if it doesn't work it can be changed again. If a woman wants to have pink and purple striped hair and that makes her feel good about herself, then so be it.

By the way titanium oxide is a commonly used pigment. Obviously you know little about chemistry.

Media puts pressure on people to look and be a certain way. In America, whether some don't want to believe it, the ideal is blond hair and blue eyes. So, dark-haired girls soak their head in bleach. Do I think it's good? No. Do I do it? No.

The women probably do think they look good because of the image that's held on a pedestal for that week.

Everybody wants to be the ideal and perfect, especially celebrities so they will get noticed and be considered "beautiful" whether it comes naturally or from a bottle.

I suppose it depends on what brand they use. Also, most of them - hopefully - get it done by a professional.

I dye my hair quite often(At home, I must admit), and my partner prefers my hair its natural colour, but she still lets me dye it.

I dye it because it gives me a chance to reinvent myself without - necessarily - doing anything permanent like a tattoo or piercing (Yes, you can take piercings out, but what if they scar/keloid?)

Why does it bother you? Nobody makes you do it, you don't even have to date a woman that dyes her hair and doing so does not do any harm to anyone- so why pick on people for such petty stuff? Maybe you should stop looking at all the trash magazines.

haha...personally, i don't dye my hair, so i see your point. but a lot of my friends do just because they don't like th color of their own hair. others are bored of thier natural color. it's just for fun.

It's fun to experiment with our looks. We ladies love to play with hair and makeup and see what look best. It's really easy and cheap to do. I've never dyed my hair cuz I have light blonde hair and would ruin it if I put anything on it. I have always wanted to see what I looked like with darker colors though. We're just trying to look nice for you!

I think that dying hair and things like that are bad. People should be happy with themselves and not feel that they need to change themselves to be good or better. They should feel accepted the way they are.

I mean, why can't people just be satisfied with their natural color? There are tons of people who dye their hair and it doesn't go with their skin color AT ALL. There IS a reason why we have the hair color that we do. It was MEANT to go with your skin tone! I've seen plenty of black girl (and they are really dark) with BLONDE HAIR. Come on! That is totally OFF! And white people with brown hair like to dye it blonde too! . Then they think they look so hot!

i guess ppl just try 2 keep up w/ the current trends. personally, i think that died hair looks unhealthy and fried. ppl should just be happy w/ w/ever color their hair is naturally. u can always use shampoos and conditioners that help bring out/ enhance ur natural color.
