Do you think we will eventually view body hair on men the same way as body hair on women?

I mean, culturally, we abhor armpit and leg hair on women, most male models you see in magazines are totally shaved, do you think that it will eventually become a cultural requirement as a practice of good grooming for men to shave the way women are expected to or will men who shave their armpits and legs always be considered gay?

Not in our lifetime because its a double standard in grooming between men and women.

probably good gooming i know i cant stand body hair on anyone its nasty!

most likely. Blame the media and how it stereotypes.

No, I think in time that the whole metrosexual shaving thing will become full practice in the male population. Not because they want to but because the females themselves find it more attractive.

Do you think we will eventually view body hair on men the same way as body hair on women?

I hope not. I don't want a man with smooth legs and underarms and all that. Sick.

Yes

Perhaps shaving certain areas like facial hair but never legs like women do.

I'd rather be a man!!!!.....

It will depend on the country.

hopfully it stays the same, i am prefectly alright with what it is now.

Personally I think body hair is gross. how I still think it's unfair how women are expected to shave nearly everywhere in order to be "attractive", and men can just be hairy. However, I do think that men are requiring to shave off more and more to be considered "attractive" in magazines and in the media, like you're saying. However I think that some body hair will always be considered okay for men, such as leg hair, and....yeah ;)

I hope not that's gay to shave you legs and uh you now where. wink. wink.

Do you think we will eventually view body hair on men the same way as body hair on women?

I think we're nearly there. To be honest I've come across countless examples of men wanting just the right amount of acceptable body hair (such as chest) and suffering having their backs shoulders and bums waxed every other week!

Bit like a body goatee really!

omg, i never noticed the magazine thing! but anyways, i think it sort of already is forming into a requirement. like, its not all that uncommon anymore for a wife or girlfriend to require her partner to get like a back wax, or chest for that matter. and swimmers need to shave EVERYTHING for meets and its not thought of as weird, so i think slowly but surely things are definitely changing.

The USA is just a small part of the planet. A lot of places and cultures love hairy women, furry legs .

We already do see it the same way in Asia.

I live in Seoul and body hair here is unwelcome for either sex.

Excessive body hair makes one seem less clean here. Men stop short of shaving it off because this is a feminine thing to do, but they will apply hair removal creams and such to get rid of it if they are going to the beach. (on back or chest or even armpits if it is excessive)

Good question. I've already seen quite a bit of change in my lifetime. When I was a teenager, hairy chests and mustaches were in style. Nowadays, you really don't see it as much. You have to remember that fashion comes and goes.

I don't think it will happen. But then again society changes what is percieved to be "beautiful" all the time. A long time ago women who were ashen white and robust were beautiful. Men wore things that ciched their waists tight and wore powdered wigs were preferred. Anything can change in the eye of "beauty".

nope. men are supposed to be hairy, keep us warm wen were earning the bread =)

And a note for annabell

If you think body hair is gross why do you think that its unfair that women usually shave...

idiot...

Do you think we will eventually view body hair on men the same way as body hair on women?

No. You'll never convince the majority of men to shave their body hair. If they did the women would find hairy guys sexier and that would reverse the trend really quick.

Lol, how many women don't take a few days off from shaving their legs when, for example, they don't wear a dress or shorts for a few days in a row, hehe? Face it, those models and such, whether they be men or women, shave because they must, but if they could get away with it, few would shave their legs and armpits, let alone their hole bodies. :)

As soon as the razor companies figure out a way to advertise their products for male body shaving in such a way that they get men to buy them, we will.

At least that's one theory for how it went for women starting to shave their legs.

During the summer I do a complete shave. I am also bald, so I keep that neat also. Gillette is making a killing off me. It is also takes a lot of time and water. My wife likes me with and w/o hair.

yeah it would happen in next 5-10 years
